  Former Oyo NUJ Chair, Gbenga Opadotun Mourns Elder Sakin Babalola Mogaji Olugbenga Opadotun, former Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Elder Sakin Babalola, a renowned journalist and respected colleague. Opadotun, who led the Oyo NUJ from 2010 to 2016, described Elder Babalola as a “complete gentleman and thorough-bred professional journalist” who was widely admired for his infectious smile, easygoing nature, and humility. “Elder Babalola was a highly respected and well-loved senior colleague in the profession.  Negotiation on New Minimum Wage, A Misplaced Priority - Group Tells FG, Labour Leaders  A group, The Democratic Movement (TDM), has called for the suspension of negotiation on new minimum for Nigerian workers, describing it as a misplaced priority. The group in a statement issued on Sunday, said what Nigerians need now is price control and not increment in workers' salary as being demanded by leadership of organized labour.  WORLD THEATRE DAY: OYO GOVT GIVES CULTURAL CENTRE NATIONAL ATTRACTION In a bid to further promote culture and tourism, the Oyo State Government has promised to turn the Cultural Centre, Mokola, into a world-class edifice that will attract people from all walks of life. This was made known by the State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, during the commemoration of the Year 2024 World Theatre Day which took place at the Cultural Centre, Mokola, Ibadan.
