Former Oyo NUJ Chair, Gbenga Opadotun Mourns Elder Sakin Babalola

Mogaji Olugbenga Opadotun, former Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Elder Sakin Babalola, a renowned journalist and respected colleague.

Opadotun, who led the Oyo NUJ from 2010 to 2016, described Elder Babalola as a “complete gentleman and thorough-bred professional journalist” who was widely admired for his infectious smile, easygoing nature, and humility.

“Elder Babalola was a highly respected and well-loved senior colleague in the profession. His passing is a great loss to the journalism community and the people of Oyo State,” Opadotun said.

Opadotun commiserated with the Chairman of the Oyo NUJ Council, Chief Ademola Babalola, the League of Veteran Journalists, and the Correspondents’ Chapel, to which the deceased belonged during his lifetime

He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family, praying that the Almighty God would grant them the courage to bear the loss of their loved one.

Elder Sakin Babalola’s demise has sent shockwaves through the journalism community in Oyo State and beyond, with many colleagues and associates paying tribute to his memory and legacy.
