Cleric Urges Government To Re- Introduce Library Studies Into Schools 


The founder and spiritual head of Shafaudeen in Islam worldwide, Prof Sabit Ariyo  has called on the government at all levels to re introduce library studies into school curriculum so as to inculcate the habit of information storage into the youths who are the future hope of the country


Prof Olagoke who is also the mogaji of Ogun Elu, Safe Alaasa dynasty disclosed this while commissioning the library he sponsored for the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State recently. 


While speaking at the occasion, Prof.Olagoke who was a former Dean ,School of Engineering, The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State stated that the importance of library is in storage, retrieval and research for the reading culture to be enhanced for the readers to tap from the deposited accumulation of knowledge and wealth of experience from the authors, achievers and professionals from various forms of discipline.


Prof. Olagoke added that the re introduction of libraries  is vital in the society and will enable the youths to be meaningfully engaged while citing the example of how he met his wife and life partner in the library in 1973, the academician per excellence noted that the conventional libraries were structured towards upon the process lines of manual automation and computer aided design concepts.


He maintained that the library is a better way of storing information for the next generation and vital for intellectual development and research.


" The library stores document if archival relevance for ease of transmission to the next generation which is the expected value system that will reform people through religion and moral way of life to prepare them for future challenges as leaders"


While also speaking during the event which marks the celebration of BCOS NUJ press week, the chairman of the occasion, ambassador Yemi Farounbi admonished for having trained librarians for stock taking, indexing for ease referencing , inventory and guide of the users to prevent mutilation, Vandalisation and all forms of abuse because the dynamics of the library will make it to be the heart and power house of the corporation. 


In his response, the General Manager of the corporation pastor Tunde Ajayi  pledges to ensure compliance in the use of the library while thanking the donor , Prof. Olagoke who was later awarded a lifetime patron of the corporation.
