I Am Not Planted To Destabilise New Era......Rotimi Olumo , Urges Tinubu To Open Borders 



Comrade Rotimi , Balogun aka Rotimi Olumo is presently the 'governor' of The Oodua People's Congress (OPC)  New Era in Oyo State after he parted ways with the Gani Adams faction of the group on the account wrong accusation of collecting money from president Tinubu during his campaign a development which has weaking the structure of Gani Adams faction in the pacesetters State, in this interview with Kunle Bakare, comrade Olumo reveals his new year's plan for the people of Oyo State among other issues bothering the Nation. 


Since you left the Gani Adams faction of the OPC much has not been heard about the group can you tell us what is happening in the New Era? 


Thank you very much for the privilege you gave me, first and foremost I have to wish the people of Nigeria a happy new year and most especially my people from Oyo State I pray that this year will be prosperous to all of us,  I also want to thank the National President of New Era comrade Rasak Arogundade for given me a soft landing when I left Gani Adams as everyone knew I denounced him publicly. 


As for the plans of New Era under my leadership which I mentioned during my inauguration I plan to further boost the name positively more than I met it and also we are committed to cultural promotion and to ensure that my followers get better and rewarding jobs by collaborating with the other security agents in the state through a robust romance with the friendly governor of the state Engr. Oluseyi Makinde. 


At least everybody in the state was aware of our involvement in the apprehension of the notorious Iskilu Wakilu although then I was with Gani Adams then and now that I have moved all my loyalists to the New Era Gani Adams structure is no more in Oyo State .


I will also use all the power within me and my people to collaborate with other security agencies in the state to curb terrorism in the state. 


I also want to express my readiness to work together with the executive governor of Our state Engr. Seyi Makinde in terms of addressing the security situation in the state so I want to tell the people of the state to sleep with their eyes closed because the governor has done much in preventing the lives and properties of the people of the state. 


Sir,  is it through that you are planted to destabilise the New Era group? 


There is no iota of truth in that and I want to tell everyone that I am not a traitor and let me tell you I can not go back to Gani Adams in fact I have challenged him to come out with the evidence of where I and my Osun State took money from president Tinubu and I am pleased to inform the general public that we both left him despite all we did to Gani Adams, we served him diligently but he paid us in bad ways. 


As for my people in New Era we were all with Gani before and we knew ourselves in fact he did same to them with prompted them to abandon him then that means Gani is the real problem of OPC. 


I did not join the OPC because of material things but self determination to be among the people that will liberate the Yoruba land let me tell you before and since I left Gani Adams I have travelled to different countries of the world and I still pocess my visa to travel to many other countries but I am staying behind in the country for my people. I determined to join the OPC in 1997 to work for the liberation of the Yoruba race. 


God used the New Era to wipe my tears away and I will forever be thankful to them so I am not planted by anybody to destabilised the group most especially the leaders and the followers and I thank them. I came into the New Era with 100 percent loyalty which I had for Gani then but you know sometimes people may not know the value of the gold they have until it is lost,  it's not only me that left Gani and you can also confirm from the then Osun state leader comrade Aladesawe whom we were both accused of collecting 35million from Tinubu. 


Let me also tell you that comrade Adeola willingly left Gani because of all this false allegations and when it was obvious that Gani was using the OPC for his selfish interest , so if anyone thinks or dream that I want to destabilise the NEW ERA it's untrue and I will use all that I have to move the group to the next level so that the people of the state will know that we are reliable. 


Sir, lots of people knew you still do other things aside the OPC Like peoperty sales and security outfit why are you scandal free? 


Thank you very much for noticing  that  , well my sincere answer to that question is that I am contented with whatever God gives me and I don't want to be like anybody in fact  it's God and nothing but God and that is why I want to advice our youths to be upright in all their dealings with people because you are the representative of your family and you have a name to protect. 


Also I  do tell my business partners to always be truthful so as to protect their names so I tell my followers too and I try to move away from things that can dent my image. 


What will be your message to our leaders in this period of hardship? 


President Tinubu should declear emergency on food because the people are suffering in fact I don't know how many people come to me daily for things to eat the hardship is too much and that is why I am passionately appealling to the president to please open the borders for food to be sufficient in the country.
